Story courtesy of the Savannah Board of Realtors

Guests at the "2005 RPAC Annual Auction" enjoyed a rousing rodeo-themed auction on May 26 at Carey Hilliardıs Restuarant on Abercorn.

WTOCıs television personality, Sonny Dixon, begged, pleaded, and sang his way through the 27 item live auction to a total of $25,000.

Community participation and support helped the Realtors Political Action Committee (RPAC) achieve many of its goals for the current year.
Whether a residential home owner, tenant, landlord, or commercial investor who provides services through his or her property for the public, it is the responsibility of the members of the Savannah Board of Realtors to stand for the protection of all property rights for every individual.
RPAC must work extremely hard in order to support fundraising efforts to obtain proper representation through lobbyist and political representatives who support private property rights in the real estate industry.
Each year RPAC hosts an ³Annual Auction² that proves to be one of the most successful and important fundraising efforts. This yearıs auction was held May 26th at Carey Hilliardıs Restaurant on Abercorn Street. Decorated with red-checkered tablecloths, saddles, hay-bales, and cow balloons, the banquet room at the restaurant festively reflected the eventıs ³RPAC Rodeo² theme.
WTOCıs television personality, Sonny Dixon, provided entertainment for the crowd when he acted as auctioneer and begged, pleaded, and sang his way through a list of 27 live auction items.
The fundraising committee collected a generous donation of 299 items from the greater Savannah area including a custom built ³Beach Buggy² from Jim Marsh, rental properties for a weekend at Tybee Island from Tybee Island Vacation Rentals, deep sea fishing trips, and a pleasure cruise for 30 (donated every year by Dr. Bill Sutlive), and fabulous artwork by Sharon Sasseen, Tony Pandolphini, and Ruby Nicole Hilliard. Frank Nelson, a realtor from Atlanta even donated his personal boat for a fishing trip.
Items that generated the most money included dolphin cruises, a trip to Palm Beach, a vacation to the Florida Keys, and an impressive 2 day hotel package from the Marriott Hotel for use anywhere in the world.
Advertising from the Savannah Morning News, Secrets of the South, Real Estate Today, Homes and Land of Savannah, The Real Estate Book, The Savannah Tribune, and the Effingham Herald aided in contributing to the success of the evening.
At the end of the day, the live auction generated over $25,000. Combined with a record-breaking amount from the silent auction, the ³2005 RPAC Annual Auction² closed with a sum of over $32,900.
RPAC expresses its gratitude to all who supported this wonderful event.
