SCHOOL SUMMARY: Isle of Hope Elementary School was named after its location. Approximately nine miles from downtown Savannah, the Isle of Hope community is noted for its rich history, handsome homes and fragrant flowers. French immigrants called it L'isle D'esperance (Isle of Hope), because it was a haven for them after they fled the French Revolution. The history of the school itself dates back to 1799, when it was a one-room log cabin. The cabin is long gone and a modern, five-wing facility serves as the school today.
