SCHOOL SUMMARY: Pulaski Elementary School was named after the Polish Revolutionary soldier Casimir Pulaski. Pulaski won fame for his role with the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War in America.
In 1779, he sailed to this country to offer his services to General George Washington. Eventually, Pulaski became a brigadier general. An expert cavalryman, he organized a corps that became known as Pulaski's Legion.
In 1779, the group participated in the Siege of Savannah, when Pulaski was wounded. He was was eventually taken to the warship Wasp in Savannah Harbor, where he died.
